The North Pacific Experiment (NORPAX) was a multi-institutional and interdisciplinary research effort designed to investigate the dynamics and energetics of large-scale fluctuations in the upper ocean. The program involved 24 principal investigators from 17 institutions/agencies. The SIO component of NORPAX accounted for approximately 50% of the program expenditures and included 14 principal investigators (including Jerome Namias and John Isaacs) as well as the Administration (David Cutchin) and Data Library components. The accession consists of quarterly reports, NORPAX Highlights, files of NORPAX committees (including the Scientific Advisory Panel), correspondence, project proposals, lists of publications by NORPAX scientists, films, photographs, slides and negatives. The slides, photos and films depict the ships, instruments and activities of the various investigations. There are many slides showing data obtained.
